After coming out of a mammoth 18 month rebranding project with National Museums Northern Ireland, it was great to start using the new brand to some nice new work.
The inaugural exhibition at the new Ulster Museum was to be the work of Sean Scully, an Irish-born artist who works in large format and primarily paints large colour abstracts. The marketing team at NMNI wanted to produce an invite to the opening evening of the exhibition that would go to the great and the good of Northern Ireland society, that featured images of Sean’s work and that gave a sense of its scale.
So I came up with this… a smaller than A5 invite that could be easily posted and double as a larger than A1 poster. The format of the folds form a grid that is reminiscent of the artist’s work and the addition of a fifth colour makes it all feel just a little more special. The content of the poster contained some biographical notes on Sean and images from his book showing him at his work.
